Research Funding

Because the battle against lung cancer can only be won by working together, all funds raised by the MPLCA will be directly contributed to the non-profit organization called Joan's Legacy: Uniting Against Lung Cancer: www.unitingagainstlungcancer.org

The Joan's Legacy Foundation created this umbrella organization so that groups like the MPLCA can run awareness and fundraising events in their loved one's honor and direct donations to Uniting Against Lung Cancer. All dollars provided to Uniting Against Lung Cancer are under the provision of a strong, proven Medical Committee and benefit the same successful research program.

This research program is particularly interested in the genetic basis and biology of lung cancer, including that in never smokers, as well as novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of this disease

Funding is intended primarily as seed money for promising new work. It is not for supporting research where funding has either lapsed or has been previously disapproved. Preference will be given to applications where indirect costs are minimal or nonexistent.
